Join Kripalu Master Teacher Rudy Peirce – known as ‘The Master of Mellow”—for this special extended weekend for students of all levels, teachers and teacher trainees.

Says Rudy: The full weekend is designed to be a nourishing selection of yoga experiences in the Dynamic Gentle style, progressing from a welcoming classic Gentle Yoga experience of dynamic self-care to expanding range of motion, specifically in the chest, opening the heart and lungs. The third “act” of this weekend is a restorative experience Saturday afternoon, complete with a healing Yoga Nidra.

While each of these workshop experiences will include illuminating the teaching techniques employed to deliver the experience, it is in Sunday’s day-long session (see below & register separately) that will we tease apart the alchemy of guiding movement in such a way as to provide a transformational experience that is highly accessible.

Our five act play resolves with a journey into the heart of meditation practice on Monday eve. Swami Kripalu taught that, if there is no meditation, there is no yoga. It is when the activities of mind settle that the portals to connection with true spirit, the eternal self within, become possible. And from this deep inner connection, we can each move forward returning to our life missions and service of family, friends and community.

Handouts. While everything you need is inside of you. If you need reminders, there will be handouts with inspiration for each session. It’s human to forget!

Dynamic Gentle Yoga – Deep Practice, Gentle Style

Gentle Yoga meets you where you are. Dynamic Gentle Yoga takes you where you want to go.

In this workshop, you’ll be guided to go deeper into your poses by exploring your range of motion. You’ll breathe deeper in your practice than you ever thought possible, as you open the channels of your body’s vitality with graceful movement. Experience inner peace, connection and liberating insight.

Expand Your Range: Techniques & Practice to Open the Chest, Shoulders & Back

The body naturally becomes constricted in the area of the heart and lungs, restricting the flow of energy and innate intelligence in these vital organs. Gentle back extensions save us from curled shoulder and chest creep, literally opening to breath and receive life more fully. In this workshop, you will release the restriction of habitual forward reaching through a specific sequence that opens the chest, shoulders and back. You will receive the joy of mastering supported back extensions that open the heart. Plus you will experience the progressive-stretch-deep-release approach, resolving deep-seated chronic tensions and stimulate your mood.

Saturday Afternoon Jan 10, 2:30P – 5:30P (For All Levels)

Restorative Yoga, Gentle Yoga & Yoga Nidra: Techniques & Practice

This is deep-dish, deep-healing gentle yoga, designed to de-stress, nourish and release unconsciously-held stuff that you don’t need anymore. Treat yourself to this layered approach to resilience, beginning with supported restorative poses to engage the relaxation response of the parasympathetic nervous system (PNS). Next we’ll release stiffness and physical blockage with gentle yoga movement stimulating the nourishing flow of circulation and energy. Finally we’ll enter into the profound meditative experience of Yoga Nidra. In Yoga Nidra, while you completely relax, your attention will be guided throughout all the levels of your multi-dimensional being, to release repressed, toxic experiences from your subconscious realm. We’ll replace the toxic negatives with affirming positives, planting new seeds to bring more freedom into your life. You don’t have to do anything. Just lay down, relax and pay attention as best you can. Consider it a yoga tune-up!

Your Instructor: Rudy Peirce, MA, E-RYT 500, has studied and practiced yoga and meditation for more than 30 years. A Kripalu Yoga teacher since 1983, he guides accessible and gentle yoga, using a self-empowering, mindful approach that facilitates deep release for beginners as well as experienced practitioners. Rudy--often called "The Master of Mellow"-- has been on the Kripalu faculty for more than two decades and currently serves as a trainer for the Kripalu School of Yoga in 200-hour and 500-hour level trainings.
