One of the most important aspects of healthy aging, at any age, is maintaining a healthy core – your abdominals and back. A healthy core supports the spine, so that the burden of the body’s weight is not placed on the bones and joints, causing misalignment and pain.
A close second is sustaining the ability to balance, so that we ward off falls and minimize their impact. Death from falls is the leading cause of death by accident in the elderly.
In this workshop you’ll learn how a yoga practice integrates both of these and more.
Yoga postures that build core strength, flexibility and balance.
How to engage in pranayama (breathing practices) that calm/focus your mind and help you move through poses safely and more efficiently.
The importance of self-awareness, so that you can take what you learn in yoga off the mat and into your life. For example, by changing the way you stand, sit, move and breathe.
We invite anyone over the age of 21 and of any yoga experience level to attend this workshop. Modifications and adjustments will be offered.
Your Instructor: Catha Pavloff is passionate about active, healthy aging. She is dismayed that our increasingly sedentary lifestyles are interfering with our ability to do so. Catha is on a personal crusade to introduce others to the transformative power of yoga and its ability to help us age healthfully in many aspects of our being: physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually.
