Our breath is our life. It is a vital force within us which has a major influence on everything that we do. As your breath flows in and out, it carries energy with it which can both revitalize and relax the mind and body. In Western civilization, it is common to think of Yoga as just a form of exercise, however as you become more aware of your breath; you open up your mind and body to a whole different experience. In this interactive workshop we will cover the basics of breath awareness and how to effectively incorporate them not only into your yoga practice, but into your everyday life. A few of many topics covered:

• Diaphragmatic breathing and its benefits

• Using the breath to create space in the body

• Why the nose??? Yogic nostril breathing

• Producing a more relaxed stretch

• Introduction to meditation

• Using your breath in day to day life to relieve stress

• Pranayama

• Followed by a full practice to incorporate everything you’ve learned!

Kristen Crisp RYT 200 found her life calling of yoga through a good friend who convinced her to try her first class. While the first class took her breath away, the practices that followed gave her the breath, voice, and confidence to make many major changes in life. Realizing that this was her calling in life, Kristen attended the National Yoga Institute in Chicago under the instruction of 2 amazing instructors, Livia Budrys and Megan Dunne. Kristen states “Just as no two fingerprints are alike, no two bodies are the same. We are asymmetrical and all move differently. My teaching style focuses on mindfulness, stress reduction and management, breath awareness, proper alignment, and yoga therapy all in a fun, yet educational, non-competitive atmosphere. In the style of Classical Hatha yoga, I will work to help each individual find their deepest potential or as I like to say, “Find yourself and love what you find.”
