Get ready to bliss out for 4-days in the Big Sur backcountry! Experience soaking in natural hot springs, deepening into or beginning your yoga practice with restorative to powerful flow styles, group activities, partner poses, singing/chanting, dancing & nature.
Rebecca Yogarina Heartfly has guided yoga classes full-time in the SF Bay Area for 4-years, working with adults in high-end corporations and yoga studios, kids of all ages (even babies!), and seniors too. But her favorite place to practice is right on the earth, lucky for us. This woman loves to nurture people, facilitate connecting with the earth, and give expert physical instruction that strengthens & heals. With Rebecca we are also guaranteed the blissful and relaxing combination of quiet meditation, silliness, and laughter topped with 100% love! Get ready for equal parts of it all!
Our 4-day/3-night journey together will begin with us meeting up at our trailhead in Big Sur on Thursday morning. After some introductions and instruction in packing your pack, including the group gear and food that will be split up amongst us, we’ll have a very light stretch and begin our hike. The first day of this trip is the most challenging as we climb up and down along a 7-mile trail to Barlow Flats. Once we arrive at our beautiful spot near the river we’ll set up our base camp and enjoy it for the next 3 days and nights. Our first day is usually capped off with some light Restorative Yoga & group activities to settle us into our 3-day earth home.
Day 2 will be optional early meditation and yoga practice, followed by a 3 mile hike to Sykes Hot Springs. These beautiful springs are built into the side of a river and rest gracefully under the canopy of some beautiful redwoods and Bay trees. Arriving here on Friday morning/early afternoon means we’ll have the springs mostly to ourselves. Between the natural hot mineral baths and the cool river water we’ll enjoy the afternoon, heading back to Barlow by early evening for campfire, smores, and singing and story-telling.
Day 3 will begin with Vigorous Flow Yoga/Pilates and a day filled with relaxing and swimming in the Big Sur river, journaling, games and communing with nature. Evening mellow flow or restorative yoga will be offered. As always we’ll end our day in community around the fire, enjoying the company of the Big Sur wildlife too. Last summer we were visited by adorable foxes each night.
Day 4 we’ll wake to our last practice together, breakfast and some gratitude to the land that held us for those days. The hike out will be easier than the hike in as we will have lighter packs and be headed downhill.
In this 4-day retreat we are lucky to have not only an experienced and heart-centered Yogini, but a Cranial Sacral Therapist & Certified Theta Healing Practitioner as well. Rebecca will be offering short Cranial Sacral Therapy sessions throughout our time together. Additionally we will gain the benefit of group & partner poses, guided movement (yoga, dance, Tai Chi), and discussions on yoga poses and philosophy.
Back to Earth Outdoors prepares organic, delicious meals and takes care of the physical health and well-being of all participants while we are in the back-country and away from medical care. However the Back to Earth specialty is creating a safe container of unconditional love and support for the entirety of each person and what they bring. This simple and powerful formula catalyzes community and facilitates heart-openings and simple yet profound personal transformations. Our goal is to offer you an experience that is exactly what you need it to be, whether it is a slowing-down vacation or a deep personal healing, a personal retreat or a fun and dynamic community experience. It all happens out there when we place our feet on the ground together and remember.
Rebecca Yogarina Heartfly helps people reunite with their own inner bliss. Being with redwoods, rivers and nature does this too. Taken together, everyone who shows up for this trip will truly imprint blissful memories that will last your entire lifetime.
What is included in the price of a trip?
Back to Earth Outdoors provides delicious, organic, local, and lovingly prepared meals both at retreats and in the back-country; Back to Earth Organic Catering and Gather Restaurant both emerged out of the meals prepared on Back to Earth Outdoors trips. We also provide all group gear including water purification, first aid supplies and trained responders, instruction of the highest caliber, guides with experience and passion, and tents to clients who request them.
What’s not included in the price of a trip?

We do however offer our time and energy to help organize carpools for those who are interested in reducing transportation costs and carbon emissions. Clients are also asked to bring their own backpacks, sleeping bags, sleeping pads, and other minor personal effects such as a bowl and spoon for meals. With prior arrangement we can however loan backpacks, sleeping bags, sleeping pads, water bottles, bowls, spoons, and mugs. These supplies are limited and loaned on a first come, first served basis.
What are the accommodations?
Our accommodations for this trip are the soft earth and the company of plants, animals and the night time sky, be it filled with stars or the light of the moon.
