Through the practice of conscious breathing you can create more energy, endurance, positivity and vibrancy in one’s life. The Breathing Project with Jade Skinner is a four-part series of classes focusing on Pranayama, the fourth of the eight limbs of Ashtanga yoga. Yoga has become very popular in the world, but unfortunately this popularity extends only to asana (postures). Pranayama has become something foreign or exotic. However, in yogic tradition pranayama has always taken center stage and asana was looked at only as groundwork for pranayama. Pranayama is composed of two parts. Prana = breath, life force Ayama = extension Pranayama is the removal of agitation and turbulence from inhalation and exhalation. When this is achieved the breathing pattern evens out to a smooth flow of mind making meditation accessible. Students will practice breathing techniques and forms. Jade will teach you to utilize your breath to power up or power down your practice as appropriate. Class will be mostly seated. No prior yoga experience required to attend.
