Kura Kura is facilitating this retreat, hosted by Debbie Blunden and Bob Bharij
Debbie and Bob invite you to join their December 2013 Ashtanga Yoga retreat on the magical island of Bali.
This promises to be an unforgettable experience, a chance to practice Ashtanga to your level of needs in the supportive surroundings of Kura Kura. It is truly a place to rest and re-energize before the New Year.
With a limited group size and two teachers, you are guaranteed lots of personal attention that meets your own specific needs relating to your practice. You can also experience just what makes Bali so magical with trips to local temples where you can be purified or be hypnotized by the gamelan and traditional Balinese dance.
Debbie Blunden and Bob Bharij have been working together for six years and have led yoga retreats in Thailand, Sri Lanka, Zanzibar and the UK. Both are dedicated to the practice of Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga and have a combined teaching experience of 18 years. They bring a playful, light-hearted and fun approach to their classes and are both passionate about the traditional form of practicing Ashtanga yoga which is the Mysore style of self-practice. It is within this format that they are able to focus on each student’s abilities and limitations, tailoring the practice to each person’s individual needs and body patterns.
Debbie is a qualified Yoga Therapist, which gives her an understanding of, and the ability to work more intelligently with medical conditions, injuries and body patterns in a way that respects individual needs. Debbie completed her training in Bangalore, India, with Master Vishwanath, the nephew of Sri K Pattabhi Jois. She has also studied extensively with John & Lucy Scott, having completed his teacher training. She has also studied with Sri K Pattabhi Jois, Lino Miele, Richard Freeman, Ana Forrest, David Keil and Eileen Gauthier. Bob brings with him his studies in psychology and 10 years of practicing psychotherapy in the drug and alcohol field which has given him a deep insight into how the mind can play itself out on the yoga mat and how our past can manifest itself as ingrained patterns that exist in the physical being. He completed his training in Rishikesh, India, and has studied with Danny Paradise, Matthew Sweeney, Ana Forrest, John & Lucy Scott and Eileen Gauthier.
Each week of the retreat includes 5 Mysore style practices, 1 led practice, and 3 afternoon workshops. Outside of the yoga, you can indulge yourself in total relaxation with the beach just some steps away, great Balinese massages or special excursions. The cultural Centre of Ubud is 50 min away and is a great place to eat, shop, and haggle! You reach up-scale Seminyak in 30 minutes and Echo beach, a famous surf spot with restaurants is just a walk away along the beach.
Numbers are very limited and rooms will be offered on a first come, first served basis. The price includes all yoga sessions, accommodation, daily delicious vegetarian food and through the day fruits, water, herbal teas and fresh juices.
