Tropical Escapes
Wolfgang and Shawn are seasoned yoga teachers whose styles compliment each other beautifully. They have enjoyed each other’s friendship for many years and share a common commitment to reconnecting with the True Self, the beauty within each of us. Join Wolfgang and Shawn for a peaceful and intentional retreat to renew our energy and welcome in the New Year.

It begins with invigorating morning yoga before breakfast in a beautiful natural tropical setting. Then, a siesta on the beach before a relaxing late afternoon yoga session. Many options according to the group’s needs will be offered, such as, early morning pranayama, candlelight restorative yoga in the evening, moon-bathing, meditation on the beach and philosophy discussions.

Our first three days will focus on unwinding and cleansing, and on New Years Day we will join together for intention setting, celebration and ceremony. The second half of the retreat is for enjoying the space we have created and settling into our gorgeous daily routine of yoga, play, stillness and healthy, delicious food.

The resort, Frenchman's Cove, is off of the beaten track in a private and quiet setting above the Caribbean Sea and surrounded by lush tropical growth with a gorgeous private beach. It is simple, comfortable and beautiful. Each aspect of the retreat will be coordinated to fit our needs including meals. There is plenty of fresh seafood and tropical fruit available at all times to support each portion of the retreat; cleansing, celebration and renewal. The location has been carefully chosen for its good value and peaceful setting.

Although Frenchman's Cove is absolutely stunning, and you might be perfectly happy just to relax here, there are other available activities including: excursions to waterfalls, caves, tropical gardens, traditional bamboo river rafting, walking, hiking, cultural excursions, sports fishing, scuba diving, snorkeling, horseback riding, and bird watching. It's a short trip into Port Antonio with a variety of shops and restaurants. Yoga Instructor: Shawn Harrison: After practicing yoga for two decades and benefiting from its powerful effects on physical and mental well being, Shawn was inspired to teach and share this experience with others. Following a year of intense training in India in 2002, including 3 months at Sivananda Ashram and 6 months at Osho Meditation Center, she immersed herself in a yogic lifestyle at Ananda Ashram in Monroe, NY. After living, working, studying and teaching at Ananda for 4 years, she was moved to open Mudita Yoga. She is currently director of Mudita where she teaches classes focusing on using asana as a gateway to greater awareness and freedom. Shawn is dedicated to the practice of yoga with the goal of bringing more happiness and peace into the world. Her classes are energizing, strengthening and relaxing; focusing on tuning into our bodies and breath as tools to free ourselves from habitual mental and physical patterns that cause strain, tension and suffering. The intended result is peace and ease.

Wolfgang Thom, RYT is a healing artist, meditation and yoga teacher who devotes his life to reconnect himself and his students to the deep beauty, which lies within each one of us. He is a disciple of yogaraj Alan Finger and part of the tantric lineage of ISHTA which stands for Integrated Science of Hatha, Tantra and Aryuveda. This is a breath-based system that incorporates alignment, meditation and healing bodywork. Each student is assisted to find his or her most healing approach to their practice based on their body type and individual needs. In order to facilitate awareness of the relationship between self, body and mind, Wolfgang uses breathing and visualization techniques as well as sound healing and intuitive touch.
