Yoga and physical theatre 2-3 November
Ensemble Physical Theatre
"Bodymind in the present moment"
with Aliki Dourmazer, Physical Theatre & Vocal trainer, Associate Director of DUENDE International Ensemble.
Aliki Dourmazer bases her teachings on the principles of “Ensemble Physical Theatre” and explores the effect of Hatha Yoga as a means to concentration, awareness and phychosomatic preparation of the performer. How can we be fully present in the ‘now’? How can we be ’alive’ at the moment of our action? To observe and develop the function of the body- mind?
The practice of Physical Theatre activates simultaneously the body-mind connection of the perforner in a continuous flow of interaction with all members of the ensemble. Combining physical theatre practices, breathing exercises and asanas from the practice of yoga with structured improvisations, we cultivate the living presence of the performer in the ‘here and now' of the action, with the discovery of his physical tools, the release from the form, the activation of instinctive communication and attention to the detail of the expressive process, the remodeling of the functional relationship of body-mind, and the understanding of stimulus-response relationship.
In this seminar we will work on the kinesiological-vocal training that focuses on:
Breathing exercises and energetic physical postures from the practice of Yoga for concentration, release of tension and activation of the 'here and now'.
Exercises based on the research on kinesiology having as focus point the pleasure of spontaneous action and effortless, fluid body expression with a goal the open, direct, unobstructed, responsive body of the performer, .
Kinesiological improvisations as partners and groups.
The training is intended for professional and amateur actors, performers, dancers, theatre schools students, educators and all those interested in discovering or expanding their physical expressive potential in the art of Physical Theatre. It is not necessary for participants to have prior experience in Yoga practices.
