The scope of the SYT training is to enable trainees to give personalized effective guidance to yoga clients to overcome their physical challenges and alleviate pain so that the deeper practices can bear fruit.
This training is for certified yoga teachers and/or licensed health professionals with a grounding in yoga practice (sadhana) as their regular practice with a minimum of 2 years of regular practice. Structural Yoga Therapy™ relies on a deep respect for the body’s innate capacity for safe, healthy movement and healing. This translates to a way of therapy that invites the body to find its own optimal way of healing, moving and building strength with careful development of the muscle structures that are needed to develop a full yoga practice.
The training program is practical yet deep and is based upon the books Structural Yoga Therapy and Yoga Sutras of Patanjali, written by Mukunda Stiles, the founder of Structural Yoga Therapy™. His work is founded in two principal yoga lineages: his physical approach is based on his studies with teachers in the lineage of Krishnamacharya – Paul Copeland, MD; Indra Devi; Rama Jyoti Vernon; and BKS Iyengar. Mukunda’s spiritual approach is based on the teachings of his beloved mentor Swami Muktananda, and Muktananda’s student, Swami Prakashananda. These are the teachings that are passed along – with great respect and love – from teacher to student.
Chinnamasta Stiles is Mukunda’s beloved and a Senior Structural & Ayurvedic Yoga Teacher, Therapist and Healer. She has been initiated (received Shaktipat) into the lineage of Bhagavan Nityandanda & Swami Muktananda and has offered the several yoga teacher training programs for the last 5 years in the US and Europe. She is now for the first time offering yoga teachers in California to attend the first 5 days of these deep teachings.
