The ShivaShakti Level 1 Children's Yoga Teacher Training provides participants with a strong foundation in teaching asana (poses), pranayama (breath work), and meditation to children. This 4-day Level 1 course focuses on the unique needs of three main developmental stages (physical and emotional) of children: ages 3-6, 7-11, and 12-14. Participants will learn how to play and lead yoga games, weave stories, and teach children to meditate. In addition one is educated as to how these activities are rooted in classic yogic philosophy and mythology. This 30-hour Foundational Training provides participants with the knowledge necessary to be able to manage a classroom of children with a variety of needs and personalities. Students learn how to understand the child and develop lesson plans based on the needs of a current class. One gains skills to be truly present for the children and give them the support and tools they need to manage the increasing amount of stress they experience in their everyday lives. Participants learn ways to empower children to live and act with respect, discipline, awareness and balance.

Each training day begins with a children's yoga class including asana, pranayama, and meditation with the instructors, which all participants join in along with some children. Then participants will learn about child development from an anatomical viewpoint. Afternoons will be spent exploring the specific yoga practices, games and stories that are recommended for each age group, as well as lesson planning and class design. Students then practice teaching the techniques learned that day with a partner. The course also weaves in yogic philosophy demonstrating how these time-tested teachings are still applicable to the youth of today's world. Some time is devoted to teaching yoga in schools. Each day includes a 1-hour lunch break.

This course is perfect for yoga instructors or dedicated yoga practitioners wanting to gain the basic skills necessary to teach yoga to children.
