Grow a Mature Yoga Practice with David Seth Fink in Bali
Yoga is often presented to us as creating profound transformation and perpetual happiness: however the tools we need for a more mature practice of integration and tolerance of our own experiences are often ignored. Using mindful, alignment based yoga, restorative yoga, and therapeutic ballwork, this workshop will explore the possibility of radical self acceptance and deeper self awareness.
David Seth Fink, MLS, RYT is a movement educator who teaches Yoga Asanas, Therapeutic Yoga, Restorative Yoga, Ballwork and Pilates. He began his meditation training in 1978 at the age of 12, and his movement training at the age of 14. Originally trained as a dancer, he began teaching Pilates in 1987. In 2004 David completed Alison West's Yoga Union teacher training, and began studying Anusara Yoga in 2006. David holds degrees in literature, dance history, and library science. He is the author of the poetry collection Lateral Psalms, and was a consultant to Ellen Saltonstall on the Anusara Anatomy Teacher Training Manual. David works privately and in groups with students who have chronic physical and psychological challenges. His practice and teaching are in?uenced by the wide variety of movement education and healing modalities he has studied and experienced, his commitment to teaching as an act of present moment awareness, and his understanding of how embodied mindfulness dissi- pates harmful patterns held in the body, mind, heart and soul.
WORKSHOP DESCRIPTIONS Basic Alignment Skills Basic Alignment Skills [BAS] are a modification of the universal principals of alignment developed by John Friend as one part of what was formerly Anusara yoga. BAS is a way of analyzing individual aliment in a yoga pose or other movements to find the safest and most effective way of practicing. We will also focus on how to use the basic alignment skills to help low back, shoulder and neck pain. Ballwork Ballwork (also known as Kinetic Awareness) is slow and gentle method using balls to release deeply held patterns in the body and build deeper concentration and awareness. An excellent way to work with chronic tension created by stress or trauma
Yoga for stress and anxiety. Our bodies react to an overdue report and being pursued by a hungry tiger in the same way. This can lead us to hold tension in our bodies, (and in how we breath) that can make us anxious more easily as well as making it difficult for us to relax. Yoga for stress and anxiety will teach students simple methods to clam their nervous systems and relax chronically held tension in their bodies.
