| This is a 3-month training for yoga teachers who would like to teach meditation courses and/or integrate meditation into existing classes. Introduce students to meditation as you deepen your own practice The programme includes four full-day workshops, which meet once per month from 10am to 4pm with a break for lunch. The next course in Central London will meet on Saturdays, 23 Feb, 23 March, 27 April and 25 May, 2013. *There are also weekly homework assignments which will be sent to you via email. These are to be completed on your own and returned at the end of each week – estimated time: 1 hour per week * Daily practice – minimum: ½ hour per day * Practice teaching – estimated ½ hour per week * Personal mentoring The tutor: Swami Saradananda inspires you to practise. She worked with the Sivananda Yoga Centres for thirty years as senior teacher and spiritual head of the facilities in New York, London, Delhi and the Himalayas. She has literally ‘written the book’ – established the syllabus for yoga courses, trained teachers and authored books including Yoga Mind and Body, Teach Yourself Yoga, Chakra Meditation and The Power of Breath. After returning from an extended period of personal practice in the Himalayas, she is now based in London and leads workshops and trainings worldwide, mainly for yoga teachers and advanced students. In this course you will learn: • to structure meditation courses and workshops • to lead group meditations • to perfect lecture techniques • when and how to lead discussions • how to help students to make meditation a part of daily life • breathing exercises, including how to use the breath to overcome distractions • mantra meditation • tratak, visualisations, subtle energies • prayer and contemplation • mudras and mandalas • to understand the nature and function of the mind • mind-body interface in meditation • asana and pranayama practices specific to meditation • effects of lifestyle and diet on meditation • how to encourage students in their meditation practice • Introduction to Patanjali’s Yoga Sutra • how to organise courses; teaching methods • how to teach children Requirements for participation: o Completion of yoga teachers’ training o 2 years of regular meditation practice o Basic computer literacy and an email address Cost: £325, includes an extensive manual; no other books are required for the course.
