Living Yoga – Loving your Life! A weekend retreat at Radhadesh in the Belgian Ardennes

Save the date for our second Ardennes retreat!

From Friday 14 to Sunday 16 March 2014

Take a brief retreat from daily life and enjoy the many facets of yoga, plus great vegetarian food, and the fresh air and beauty of the Ardennes at Radhadesh (Château de Petite Somme) in Durbuy.

Our external world is undeniably a reflection of our inner world, and therefore inner peace is necessary to live harmoniously in the outer world. Inner peace arises only when one’s Dharma (what one essentially is) and Karma (what one does) are in perfect alignment. In this weekend retreat, Ram Vakkalanka and Susan Hopkinson will present you with a variety of ancient tools to discover your inner peace, strength and harmony that can be reflected in outer harmony with everything and everyone around you.

Attend the entire weekend for optimum benefit, or just join us when you can.

Non-participating partners and children sharing a room are welcome to spend the weekend enjoying the beauty and quiet of the surrounding forests and the charm of Durbuy, only 6 kms away, and to take meals in the restaurant at own expense. Please note that here is no childcare available, and children cannot attend group sessions.

Friday 14 March 2014

11:00-14:00 – Arrival and check-in

12:30 – Lunch (optional)

14:00-16:30 - Dharma & Karma – balancing life and spirituality (Ram) Many people think of ‘dharma’ as what they have to do in life. The truth is ‘dharma’ is what you are and ‘karma’ is what you do. If one’s karma is in alignment with one’s dharma, life will be fulfiling; or else, a certain metaphysical emptiness inevitably permeates life. A clear understanding of these simple yet complex concepts can lead to a life of harmony, purpose and fulfilment. We begin this weekend journey with exploration of the four goals of life, the four stages of the life journey, dharma, karma and the critical role of free will in shaping one’s life.

16:30-18:00 – Hatha Yoga (Susan) A postural practice working with the principal chakras as a way to better understand the relationship between the physical and energy bodies in each pose.

18:45-20:00 – Dinner

20:15-21:00 – Digestive Yoga and Sound Meditation (Ram and Susan)

Saturday 15 March 2014

07:00-08:15 – Asana, pranayama and meditation (Susan) We begin the day with movement and stimulating breathing exercises followed by centering and stillness

08:15-09:30 – Breakfast

09:30-12:30 - Inner harmony through chakra balancing (Ram) Ram explores each chakra in depth – both as an energy centre as well as a karmic memory centre – explaining how chakra cleansing can help in achieving inner harmony. Each chakra is presented comprehensively - its descriptive and energetic aspects, bio-chemical functions and psychosomatic aspects along with tools to remove energy blockages and to balance the chakras.

12:30-13:30 - Lunch

13:30-15:00 – Walking Meditation and/or Digestive Yoga

15:00-18:00 - Sacred vibrations of the chakras (Ram) We explore the vibrational aspects of the seven chakras such as the optimum frequencies of the chakras, vibrations of the petals of each chakra including their humanized expressions - called ‘bija mantras’ - along with practical techniques for chanting the mantras accurately to balance the chakras. Oh, one more thing…Ram will reveal the secret behind the total vibrational frequency of all the chakras put together and how it is related to the individual’s span of life.

18:15-19:30 – Dinner

19:30-21:00 - Inner healing thru Nada Yoga – Part 1 (Ram) Nada Yoga is a wonderful confluence of the science of yoga and the art of music. Nada Yoga envisages music as a means of enlightenment by exploring the energy aspect of music. Nada Yoga explores the relationship between 'swaras' (energized musical tones) and the five elements, Chakras, zodiac signs, mudras and gem stones. Balancing the chakras as well as vata, pitta and kapha doshas through Nada Yoga can result in removing energy blockages and inner healing and deeper states of meditation. In this program, Ram will present the spiritual side of music and explain the correspondence between musical tones and the five elements, seven chakras, twelve zodiac signs and other energy aspects of our mind-body system. The participants will learn how to apply mudras, chant beeja mantras and be led through guided meditation on the chakras to the accompaniment of music.
