Time: 5:00- 7:00 PM Learn about this groundbreaking program which has been shown to help prevent relapse of depression.Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy for Depression (MBCT) The course is taught by Jeffrey Rutstein, PhD, Psychologist, Director, Life Center for Growth & Healing, P.C and Deborah Metzger, RYT, LSW, PCYH’s Founder & Director Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy for Depression (MBCT) is an innovative and highly researched program designed to help people who suffer chronic or repeated bouts of depression to prevent relapse . It combines the clinical application of mindfulness meditation with the tools of cognitive therapy and is based on the model developed by Jon Kabat- Zinn. MBCT teaches us to recognize the link between low mood and negative spiraling thoughts which can lead into isolation and "living in our head". Mindfulness helps us to shift mental gears and to be more trusting of our strengths. This rigorous course mixes didactic, experiential, and small group learning, and includes meditation and yoga in an 8 week 2 hour class format and an all day retreat. **** Course includes 2 CDs, workbook, all day retreat and private session* *Price of the full course is $850 ($800 of paid by February 1) and does not include $100 for required private session with course leader and licensed psychologist Dr. Rutstein (Lic.#SI 02183)**** FREE INTRODUCTORY SESSION.
