Marina Jung teaches yoga through the raw traditions taught to her by the Iyengar family. The Iyengars are known for their attention to detail, student specific adjustments and finite sequencing of asanas for holistic balance. Marina’s vast knowledge of the human body and its potential are her greatest assets. Marina sees her students’ potentials and she urges them to penetrate to that level in a mature and safe approach. Ambitions are put aside in Marina’s class. Students learn how to “get into their body and out of their head”.

Students go further and learn deeper through Marina’s straightforward instructions, her mature and clear demonstrations of postures, and her strongly individual adjustments.

It is a rare skill for a yoga teacher to balance the amount of time devoted to detailed teachings of asana technique with time for quiet reflection in which students can penetrate deeper within their own practice. Marina has this skill. Students of Marina can expect to be challenged physically, mentally and spiritually. They will be invited to listen with keen awareness and take this knowledge into their practices. Marina teaches that yoga is not theoretical, it is a practice. Therefore- students learn to listen, concentrate, apply, hold, repeat, listen, concentrate, apply… Marina teaches that yoga is not about doing poses- it is about becoming the poses and working out how to get there using intelligence, surrender and humility.

Marina Jung is a member of the Iyengar Yoga association in Australia wih a Senior Intermediate Certificate and has been teaching yoga for 20 years (and practicing for almost 30 years). She started Yoga in 1984, and attended Teacher training with Mira Mehta at the London Institute where she taught until 2001. She moved to Perth, WA where she taught and ran teacher training courses. Since 2007 she has been teaching and running teacher training at the Clifton Hill yoga studio in Melbourne.

She also runs Personal Development days for teachers who want to deepen their practice.

The daily programme starts with a light snack of fruits and coffee or tea from 7.00 – 7.45, followed by an asana class from 8.00-10.30 am. W will then have brunch around 11.00 am. The rest of the morning and the early afternoon will be free for relaxing, excursions, swimming in the pool or having a massage. There will then be a second practice of restorative yoga and pranayama from 5.00 – 6.30pm.
