The roots of yoga practice sprout patience, kindness and mindfulness, as well as offer pregnant women a perfect opportunity to explore the spiritual aspects of birth and mothering, to find physical relief from common discomforts, and ease in birthing.

The workshop curriculum includes anatomy and physiology, and detailed presentations on benefits and contraindications for yoga practice during pregnancy and postpartum. We carefully analyze a wide variety of asanas to understand the appropriate use of props to support the pregnant body. Other topics include pranayama, mudra, chanting, how to integrate pregnant students in general classes and how to start a prenatal class. Students also have the opportunity to try on an "empathy belly" which gives the feeling of the weight and breadth of pregnancy. "It is my interest that students come away from this intensive with solid information on how to proceed in safely and confidently teaching pregnant students."

Students can apply 16 credit hours toward the Prajna 200 HR or 500Hr TT.
