Born in 1934, Barbara offers the ancient, gentle practice of Yoga while sitting in chairs. We will focus on the connection between our breath, our bodies, our minds and our 5 senses. There is no right or wrong way to practice Yoga. We just begin where we are and we can’t do anything wrong. Chair Yoga is beneficial to every body, whether or not you are strong, flexible, love tofu, male or female…what matters is a willingness to try something different which is a great way to keep the brains alert and alive. Chair Yoga is for anyone who wants to stretch, strengthen, relax and practice not believing everything we think!

Barbara Rich Born in 1934, Barbara Rich has traveled, taught, learned and experienced a lot of living. She currently offers Yoga classes in her studio in Groton, MA and works full time as a Special Education Advocate/Consultant. She also consults for two synagogues’ Hebrew School programs on all aspects of Special Needs and volunteers with the Communities for Restorative Justice (C4RJ) program. Her intention as a teacher is to help you make friends with yourself, to quiet the inner critic, to stretch, breath, relax and find new ways to be happy. She began taking Yoga classes after coming home from the Peace Corps program in The Philippines where she, her husband and 4 children had lived for 3 years. Returning to Massachusetts was a huge transition, and Yoga helped Barbara learn a bit of patience with the process. After several years of taking classes, she knew she wanted to teach, and became certified at Kripalu Center for Yoga and Health in Lenox, MA. That was in 1991, and she has been teaching Yoga ever since. She teaches Chair Yoga at the Council on Aging in Harvard, and has her own Yoga studio in Groton where she offers two Hatha Yoga classes each week. She is grateful to be totally healthy, with solid, authentic relationships with her adult children and nine grandchildren.
