Yoga Therapy is an ancient and emerging field that uses tools from the yoga tradition to facilitate health and healing at all levels of our being. This training is oriented toward certified yoga teachers who are interested in bringing therapeutic adaptive yoga to current and prospective students who are living with chronic health conditions. Experienced students of yoga are also invited to participate.
Therapeutic Adaptive Yoga Therapy Training offers practical tools as well as philosophical and psychological insights into thought patterns and behaviors that promote or inhibit healing. Participants will gain practical skills and experience to confidently offer therapeutic and adaptive yoga practices in their communities.
Topics include: The 4 Stages of Healing; Practices for the 5 Koshas; Adaptive asana including 4 levels of chair yoga; Specific health conditions including MS, cancer, autoimmune conditions, chronic pain, children with autism spectrum disorders, special considerations of aging; Caring for the caregiver; Yoga philosophy and psychology; Healing rituals; Teaching strategies; and Business matters.
Each weekend covers one or more conditions in depth as well as healing tools from the 4 Stages of Healing Continuum.
Yoga teachers will have the opportunity for individual coaching and mentoring as part of their practicum.

Tuition: $1530 in full by January 1, 2015; $300 due the 1st of each month.

Karen O’Donnell Clarke, ERYT500, PYT1000, has certifications from Kripalu Center for Yoga & Health, Yoga of the Heart, Yoga for the Special Child, and Integrative Yoga Therapy. She has been teaching Therapeutic Adaptive Yoga since 1996 and training yoga teachers since 2003 with her nationally recognized program, Therapeutic Adaptive Yoga for Multiple Sclerosis (TAYMS).
