This will give you real life experience of the classroom with the complete support of the Brahmani staff.

Course Contents

This course has several unique aspects that you will not find in other programmes:

Working with several highly experienced teachers, who have all trained directly with Julie Martin at Brahmani Yoga. Small select group: No more than 12 participants on the course. Practical work in a real class room environment with experienced teachers supervising. Not just working on other teacher trainees. Emphasis on assisting / apprenticing so that you feel confident in a real classroom environment. This programme gives you 250 hours of Yoga Alliance registered curriculum. Working directly in the world renown Brahmani environment to cultivate the best skills with encouraging and supportive staff.

This course is 250 hours of intensive practice and teaching skills over 6 weeks. You will be working about 8 hours a day, 5 days a week. Saturdays are ½ days and most Sundays are completely free. There is also 30 hours of pre-homework that must be completed before the course starts.

Teaching yoga and maintaining a practice involves a lot of hard work and discipline and this course is designed to give you a foundation reflecting that. It is important you understand this is not a “yoga holiday” or a “retreat” before you apply.

All the teachers at Brahmani Yoga are dedicated to teaching WELL and SAFELY and therefore do not believe you can do a month or so of training and be prepared to go out and teach WELL. Teaching is a vocation so we look at the level one course as your starting point. On this course we will establish the basics of teaching, communication, adjustments, sequencing, anatomy & physiology, yoga philosophy, pranayama & meditation and all aspects of yoga to give you a solid foundation. You will be exploring all these topics on a personal level as well as for teaching purposes, guided by experienced and nurturing teachers.

Brahmani Yoga also believes that many forms of yoga are beneficial and therefore you will be participating in all of the daily public classes at Brahmani to gain a well rounded understanding of asana practice. This includes not only the Vinyasa Flow classes but also Hatha, Ashtanga, Restorative and more.

There are non-contact hours included on this course. Most of these hours must be completed as pre-homework which consists of reading and report writing as well as some practical exercises to give you a good preparation and a look at what we will be working on. The homework will be sent to you once you have been accepted on the course and must be completed before the course starts.

We also put an emphasis on assisting/apprenticing once you have finished the course. There is so much valuable experience to be gained working alongside knowledgeable teachers for an extended period of time that you cannot attain by attending a course. By the end of the course you will be confident in assisting and will also have a foundation for teaching beginners and general level classes. For those of you who already teach it will fine tune your skills and allow you an opportunity to delve deeper into your understanding of teaching.
