UNION OF OPPOSITES: Friday, December 6th 10:30AM - 12:30PM Cost: $30
The aim of hatha yoga is to balance right-left, heating-cooling, masculine-feminine, up-down, in-out, expansion-contraction and so on. Often hatha yoga is practiced in one direction of either strength or length. In this class we will explore unique movements that combine the simultaneous activation and release of muscles giving way to new sensations and increased range of movement.
YINYASA: Friday, December 6th 5:45PM - 7:30 PM Cost: $35
The word Vinyasa means to place or arrange. Yin is the quality of slow, cool, and calm. The playful and poetic swapping of "Vin" for "Yin" implies that the nature of these Vinyasa classes are slow and purposeful. The asana work is deliberate, methodical and slowly builds into a peak pose or to open a specific body part. There is good focus on healthy alignment while weaving in the wisdom of the yoga philosophy, also keeping it light and playful all while working hard. A perfect Hatha Yoga experience, light and intense, effort and yield, soft and hard, yin and yang, work and play!
HAPPY BACK-BENDING: Saturday, December 7th 2:00-5:30PM Cost: $40
In the initial years of practice back bending can be quite challenging, daunting and sometimes painful. Additionally, more experienced students can plateau in their practice of back arching losing the sense of adventure in this most important movement needed for health, vitality and balance in the body. In this class we will study anatomy and the specific actions needed for safe and integrated back bending.
