The words ‘yoga retreat’ and ‘ocean’ are synonymous with visions and sensations of stress-busting possibilities… basking in the sun, walking through surf and along stretches of sandy beaches, and being lulled into a state of much-needed bliss by the sounds of waves.
In February~ when much of the Northern Hemisphere is experiencing winter (which has its own delights, we know!)~ many of us start to crave sunshine and warmth and a get-away that really gets us ‘away’.
We can help you find it when we return to Punta el Custodio, on Mexico’s Pacific Coast, for a weeklong retreat February 20-27, 2016.
This retreat will hold much of the same delights we experienced in 2015: a languid schedule of classes (Yoga and Pilates) set amongst incredibly beautiful, peaceful surroundings. We stay in open-air homes in a private compound north of Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. Each room has a private en suite, and each home has a cooling dipping pool, perfect after a long beach walk and before an afternoon nap. Three meals a day are prepared by in-house cooks, and there are always agua frescas (fresh fruit and herb waters) and botanas (‘little bites’) available.
During one of Liza’s yoga classes at the February 2015 retreat a guest at one of the other homes asked if she could join in. As she and Liza got to talking afterwards, they discovered a wealth of overlapping interests. Both Liza and Rhona are seasoned yoga teachers, with specializations in women’s pelvic health as well as other mind/body practices, and they both want to share the delights of Punta el Custodio with others. Rhona just happens to live in British Columbia, Canada and Liza travels between central Mexico and New England teaching yoga and leading retreats.
Liza and Rhona will be offering their clients and students a variety of practice sessions. Some classes will be concurrent, for those who prefer to focus on either Yoga or Pilates. Both instructors will take turns with evening practices and meditations, and both will be offering one-on-one sessions for those wishing to go deeper into some aspect of their own mind/body practices. There will be hours in every day to simply stroll the long, undeveloped beach; to lie still in a chaise lounge and read a book or daydream; to soak and socialize and otherwise attend to your own experience of being nourished by nature.
Your retreat fee includes all classes, housing and meals between dinner Sat. Feb. 20 and breakfast Sat. Feb. 27, 2016. It also includes the round-trip shuttle between our retreat site and the PVR airport. We can accommodate special food requests (such as gluten-free, vegetarian, etc.) with advance notice.
We require that you purchase trip insurance.
Your retreat fee does not include private sessions with the instructors, excursions (such as whale watching), tips for the staff, or alcohol.
You will be sent a packing list as we get closer to the retreat, and you will need to bring your own yoga mats and props. Snorkeling gear and boogie boards would also be put to good use.
